3 men rob couple in Sunset Beach home

Three men wearing ski masks forced their way into a Sunset Beach home last night and robbed at couple at gunpoint. The men fled with an undisclosed amount of cash and are still at large, police said.

The home-invasion robbery on the 59-200 block of Kamehameha Highway was reported at 10 p.m.

Police said the three men, one of whom was carrying a rifle, first entered a cottage and demanded money from a 52-year-old man. The man told them he had none. The suspects then tied the man up with duct tape and proceeded to the main house, where they forced their way in at gunpoint and confronted a man, 50, and woman, 53.

The couple were robbed of an undisclosed amount of cash.

Towing firm owner arrested in thefts

Police yesterday arrested the owner of a towing company in Hale‘iwa on suspicion of stealing parts from cars he towed.

Lt. Hank Nobriga of HPD’s auto-theft detail said police raided the towing company yard on the 66-500 block of Kamehameha Highway yesterday at 10:30 a.m. on a complaint from the owner of a pickup truck that was towed from a private parking lot on July 5. The complaint stated the truck was found stripped of some parts on July 21 when the owner went to claim the vehicle, Nobriga said.

While at the scene, police also recovered two stolen vehicles stripped of parts.

A 55-year-old man was booked at the Wahiawa police station on two counts of second-degree theft and auto theft. He was later released pending further investigation.
