Bankers coming to Big Island

About 1,300 bankers and their families will converge on the Big Island Sept. 20-24 for the annual convention of the American Bankers Association.

The largest banking trade association in the country has invited Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan to speak to the gathering at the Hilton Waikoloa Village.



Case buys more of Maui Land

Steve Case, the Hawai'i-born former AOL Time Warner chairman, added 142,045 shares to his holdings of Maui Land & Pineapple, a real estate, agriculture and retail company, according to a filing submitted earlier this week to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Case bought the shares for $17.60 each or $2.5 million. He now owns 3.13 million, or 44 percent, of Maui Land & Pineapple's 7.19 million outstanding shares.
