How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Kaua'i led all islands in occupancy with a 8.1 percent gain to 86.4 percent for the week ended July 26 with Maui following close behind at 86 percent, or 9.4 percent higher than the prior year, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Statewide hotel occupancy enjoyed a 13.1 percent increase to 80.9 percent, although room rate fell by 1.2 percent to $147.51. Maui continued to maintain the State's highest room rate at $197.56.
