Former Bishop trustee to start jail term Nov. 3

Advertiser Staff

Former Bishop Estate trustee Lokelani Lindsey will begin serving a 60-day jail sentence Nov. 3 after being granted a final 90-day delay yesterday by federal Judge David Ezra.

Ezra denied Lindsey's request for a six-month delay so she can care for her sick husband, Stephen, but gave her 90 days and warned that no further extensions would be granted.

William Harrison, Lindsey's attorney, said Stephen Lindsey is terminally ill.

Lokelani Lindsey was granted a 90-day stay earlier this year. Lindsey was convicted of money laundering and bankruptcy fraud in connection with her sister's 1995 bankruptcy case. She will serve her 60-day sentence at the federal detention center near Honolulu Airport.
