Carter, 28, signed a two-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs last week. Financial details of the contract have not been released but it is expected to be for less than $1 million per season.
A mixup cost Anthony Carter a $4.1 million deal.
Carter, a 6-foot-2 point guard, lost out on a $4.1 million contract with the Heat for the upcoming season because he and Duffy failed to exercise an option clause before a June 30 deadline.
"It was just a mixup with my agent, but we squared it away," Carter told television station WFOR in Miami. "It's not my fault, it's not the Heat's fault. It's just something that happened.
"My agent is a great person. We got that squared away where he's going to take care of the rest of it."
