Getting 'real' at D&B
Advertiser Staff and News Services
Sex, flesh and alcohol? You just never know what's going to happen when reality TV stars get together. Granted, their 15 minutes of fame seems to have past them by, but some of the stars of reality TV shows will be in Hawai'i for a round of fun and games Thursday through Sunday at Dave & Buster's at the Ward Entertainment Complex. Festivities will include contests, karaoke, autograph sessions and games on Thursday, a lu'au on Friday and a volleyball tournament on Saturday.
Among those expected here: Steven Hill and Frank Froessler from "The Real World, Las Vegas"; Kirsten Buschbacher from "The Bachelor"; Ace Amerson, Adam Kang and Mallory Snyder from "The Real World, Paris"; Ruthie Alcaide, from "The Real World, Hawai'i"; Kelly Scott, from "The Real World, New Orleans"; and Mark Long, from "Battle of the Sexes."
Shades make sense
Your hot rod can really get steaming in these dog days of summer, when the steering wheel inside your parked car can reach more than 150 degrees.
Sun shades can reduce the heat buildup by more than 48 degrees, according to research conducted for auto sunshade company Axius, a division of Pennzoil-Quaker State Co., but 22 percent of drivers use them regularly.
So you know, even with the window down two inches, when it's 83 degrees, temperatures inside your car can reach 109 degrees in 15 minutes.
Ease your dog's pain
A study by Pfizer Animal Health revealed that 93 percent of dog owners would do as much or more to control their dog's pain as they would their own. Now, they can prove it. The FDA recently approved an injectable form of the popular canine painkiller Rimadyl. This means, the effects can be delivered faster at more specific points in the body. It simply means your dog's pains can be better managed. Ask your veterinarian for more information.
