SOCCER

Scrimmage canceled: The University of Hawai'i soccer team's scrimmage against Santa Clara on Aug. 21 has been canceled, UH announced yesterday.

Although the match would not have counted against either team's record, it would have counted against the NCAA limit of 20 total matches allowed in a season. The Broncos were unable to cancel one of their regular-season matches to put them below the 20-game limit.

Hawai'i opens its season against Arizona State on Aug. 29 at the Waipi'o Peninsula Soccer Park.
