Autopsy performed on Halawa inmate

An autopsy was performed yesterday on a 42-year-old inmate who was found hanging in his cell Tuesday at the Halawa Correctional Facility. Results are pending. A corrections officer discovered the body at 8 a.m.



Man arrested in sword assault

Police arrested a 20-year-old man Tuesday night on suspicion of threatening a group of teenagers with a sword and cutting one of them. The confrontation occurred at 8:10 p.m. in Nu'uanu.

Police said a 17-year-old boy was cut on his arm by the sword. The teens chased the man and allegedly attacked him. The man was treated for injuries and booked on suspicion of attempted second-degree murder and first-degree terroristic threatening.
