How Hawai'i hotels are faring

Statewide hotel occupancy rose to 80.7 percent for the week ended Aug. 2, 2003, although its average daily room rate fell to $149.51, according to Hospitality Advisors LLC. Kaua'i continued to lead the state with occupancy of 89.3 percent. Maui also showed a 5 percent increase to 87.9 percent. O'ahu gained 13.1 percent in occupancy to 76.6 percent, but its average room rate fell to $116.40. Maui continued to maintain the state's highest average room rate at $204.31.
