Visitor hurt trying to stop thieves

A Canadian visitor suffered minor injuries yesterday while trying to stop two thieves from fleeing in a car from the parking lot of Halona Blow Hole next to Sandy Beach. The Canadian man, 31, was treated at the scene for cuts and released.

Police Lt. Abner DeLima said the man saw the two thieves near his rental car at about 9:45 a.m. One of the men was holding a bag taken from the car containing a camera, cell phone and cash. The visitor grabbed onto the suspects' car and was injured as they drove toward Waimanalo in a red Ford Mustang.
