Mililani blanks California at Bronco World Series

Christopher Pascual pitched a three-hitter with 10 strikeouts as Mililani eliminated Whittier, Calif., 8-0, in the P.O.N.Y. Bronco (ages 11-12) World Series yesterday at Monterey, Calif.

Mililani's Keanu Carmichael and Darren Baccay each drove in two runs.

Mililani plays St. Joliet, Ill., today at 2 p.m. (HST), with the winner advancing to the semifinals at 4:30 p.m.

• Little League Seniors (ages 15-16): Shaun McEnhimer pitched a two-hitter as Chesterfield, Va., beat Hilo, 8-2, yesterday at Bangor, Maine.

Hilo (0-1) will play Moscow today in the double-elimination tournament.



SOFTBALL

• Bobby Sox (ages 10-younger) Nationals: Nona Pauline pitched a shutout and had eight strikeouts as Mililani routed Bakersfield, Calif., 8-0, yesterday at Buena Park, Calif.

Taylor Hoohuli had three RBIs and Kacie Aoki drove in a pair for Miliani, which will play Pico Rivera, Calif., today.



MEETING

• Quarterback Club: KHON sports anchor John Veneri, former University of Hawai'i tight end Brian Derby and Iolani English teacher Peter Greenhill will be the guest speakers at today's meeting of the Honolulu Quarterback Club at the Pagoda Hotel.

Kimberly Wang, owner of the Hawaiian Islanders, and San Francisco Giants pitcher and Waipahu High graduate Jerome Williams will also be honored as July's Sportspersons of the Month.

Lunch begins at 11:30 a.m., with the program to follow at noon.
