Bus driver fired following dispute

A tour bus driver arrested Sunday on suspicion of reaching into the vehicle of a motorist during a traffic dispute in Waikiki has been fired, according to an Ilima Tours & Transportation official.

The 23-year-old driver reportedly left passengers on the bus to confront a woman motorist, 21, at the intersection of Kalakaua Avenue and Kapi'olani Boulevard about 6:30 p.m. The driver allegedly reached into the motorist’s car and hit the woman before returning to the bus and driving off.

The motorist reported the incident to police with the license number of the tour bus. Police arrested the bus driver at a Kahala hotel at 7:25 p.m. The woman was booked for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle and released pending further investigation.

Man charged in armed robbery

Police yesterday charged 38-year-old Roy Lynn Ross with armed robbery in connection with Sunday’s holdup of John Dominis restaurant. Ross is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail.

Police seeking pair of fugitives

Police are seeking information on the whereabouts of fugitives Elvis Vaa Matagi and Alan Vegas.

Matagi, 39, aka Elvis Natagi, is wanted on a federal parole violation warrant. He has 16 felony convictions, including seven for firearm offenses. Matagi has also been convicted of theft, assault, negligent homicide and promotion of illegal drugs. He is known to frequent Laie and Haiku, Maui.

Vegas, 39, is wanted for failing to appear in court for drug offenses, first-degree attempted theft, bail jumping and assaulting a police officer. He has prior convictions for firearm offenses, escape, theft and terroristic threatening. Vegas does not have a right index finger.

Man allegedly left accident scene

Police arrested a 21-year-old man early yesterday on Farrington Highway in Wai'anae on suspicion that he fled the scene of an accident Saturday in Nanakuli without giving aid to a critically injured pedestrian.

The man, a Nanakuli resident, was booked for failure to render aid at 12:30 a.m. and released pending further investigation.

The woman pedestrian, 30, was struck by a van while crossing Farrington Highway at Pohakanui Avenue Saturday at 2:23 a.m.

Crash injuries blamed in death

A 41-year-old Waikiki woman found dead in a car Saturday in Wahiawa died from multiple injuries related to the crash of her vehicle, according to the medical examiner’s office, which performed an autopsy yesterday. The woman’s 1993 Chevrolet Lumina was found in a ditch off Kamehameha Highway near Helemano Plantation.
