Hilo's Otsuka pitches no-hitter in Senior League Series

 •  Pearl City shut out, 5-0, in Northwest regional final

Sheldon Otsuka pitched a no-hitter as Hilo blanked Russia, 5-0, in the Senior League World Series (14-to-16-year-olds) in Bangor, Maine.

Otsuka struck out four and walked four in seven innings.

Matt Haasenritter went 3 for 4 with a double, and Darrick Iida was 2 for 3 to lead Hilo.

Hilo (1-1) continues pool play tomorrow against Canada at 10 a.m. (EST).

Pool play ends Thursday.

Mililani ousted: Levittown, Puerto Rico shut out Mililani 9-0 to reach the final of the P.O.N.Y. Bronco (11-12) World Series at Monterey, Calif., yesterday.

Levittown, which handed Mililani both its losses in the World Series, plays Tamiami of Miami in today's championship game.

Earlier yesterday, Mililani eliminated St. Joe's of Joliet, Ill., 13-3.

No other details of the games were available.


SOFTBALL

Mililani wins Bobby Sox: Keiki Carlos struck out all six batters she faced in the final two innings, and hit a triple in the bottom of the fourth to score Nona Pauline from second as Mililani defeated Campbell, Calif., 1-0, yesterday to win the Bobby Sox Nationals 9-under Championship at Buena Park, Calif.

In a semifinal game yesterday, Mililani defeated Pico Rivera (Calif.), 2-0, on a Chesaray Silva double in the second inning that scored Kristin Namba and Karis Kochi.

Carlos pitched a no-hitter with eight strike outs in the game.
