4-vehicle crash slows H-I trafficWestbound traffic on the H-1 Freeway near the Waipahu offramp was snarled for 21/2 hours today because of a traffic collision involving four vehicles. No one was seriously injured but three people were taken to Kapi'olani Medical Center-Pali Momi and two others to Tripler Medical Center.
Police said the driver of a military cargo van lost control of the vehicle in the second lane of the freeway past the Waipahu offramp at 6:15 a.m. The van ended up on its side, causing a rear-end chain-reaction crash involving two sport untility vehicles and a car.
Man arrested in golf-club attack
Police arrested a 41-year-old man Monday on suspicion that he struck another man with a golf club during a dispute at a Kalihi gas station at 666 N. King St.
The injured man, 20, who was a passenger in a car, was treated for a broken nose.
The 11 p.m. dispute involved the driver of the car and the station’s cashier. According to police, the two had argued and as the driver returned to his car, the cashier approached him with a golf club. The cashier allegedly swung the club at the driver but struck the passenger instead.
The station employee was booked for second-degree assault and unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
