BUSINESS BRIEFS
Radio stations to be purchased

Advertiser Staff

Maui-based Pacific Radio Group Inc. has entered into a purchase agreement to buy eight radio stations operated by Big Island Radio. Earlier this year, Pacific Radio said it would buy four other Big Island stations from Maverick Media LLC.

Federal Communications Commission rules require that Pacific Radio sell three of its Big Island stations once the purchase is completed, the company said. "When the dust settles Pacific Radio Group is expected to own a total of 15 stations in Hawai'i," the company said.

Cruise line offers seminars

Norwegian Cruise Line is offering seminars on its Hawai'i cruises and U.S. flag operations to travel agents in the western United States. The presentations will be in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Oregon, Utah and Washington from Aug. 25 through Sept. 15.

The seminars are designed to teach agents about Hawai'i's culture and offer tips to sell Norwegian's cruises in Hawai'i. Norwegian will also discuss Mexican Riviera cruises starting next September on the Norwegian Star.

Hawaiian allows online check-in

Hawaiian Airlines said yesterday passengers can now check themselves in on the company's Web site, pick a seat and print a boarding pass from a home or office computer.

Hawaiian said the new "Hele On Web Check-In" service at HawaiianAir.com should cut down on the wait time at the airport for interisland and trans-Pacific flights. Passengers can check in up to 24 hours before departure.
