Tonight's Must-See

"Boomtown," 9 p.m., NBC. After getting so-so ratings its first season, this terrific cop show has the attention it deserves. The latest awards came from the Television Critics Association, calling it the year's best drama and best new show. Those join a Peabody Award, an American Film Institute prize and more. Now NBC offers a nice boost. In addition to this rerun, it will air in its new timeslot at 9 p.m. Fridays. New episodes begin airing Sept. 26. Tonight's rerun is an acclaimed hour focusing on David McNorris (Neal McDonough), the tough and troubled assistant district attorney. He teeters toward corruption when a movie mogul's son is a murder suspect.

"Street Time," 7 p.m., Showtime. Last week's season-opener was unrelentingly nasty. This one offers more variety. Hunter (Rob Morrow) remains in prison and James Liberti (Scott Cohen) remains troubled. Dee Mulhern (Erika Alexander) and her new boss (Terrence Howard) follow an interesting case as a parolee insists on leaving her halfway house.

Of Local Note

"Pepsi Smash," 8 p.m., WB. Hawai'i-born surf folkie Jack Johnson performs at this summer concert that also features Rooney and Jewel.

Of Note

"The George Lopez Show," 7:30 p.m., ABC. Max spies on his sister's friend and that brings consequences.

"The Real Roseanne Show," 8 p.m., ABC. Last week, this reality show introduced us to the interesting bunch of people working for Roseanne Barr as they tried to plan a TV cooking show. Tonight, they begin pitching it to cable networks. Surprisingly, the Food Network isn't the one that bites.

"The Family," 9 p.m., ABC. This reality show — with members of a family scrambling for a fortune — takes a twist tonight. Everyone must help prepare a dinner party for soap star Susan Lucci.
