Elvis was Hawai'i's greatest marketer

By Wayne Harada

Elvis Presley
Elvis, who died 26 years ago tomorrow at age 42, had a big hunk of love for Hawai'i.

"He's done more for Hawai'i than anyone else ... and he opened up the doors to Hawai'i with his 'Blue Hawai'i' film," said Tom Moffatt, veteran disc jockey and longtime friend of Presley.

"Elvis shared Hawai'i with the world, creating more publicity for us than HVB (Hawai'i Visitors Bureau, now the Hawai'i Visitors and Convention Bureau) has ever done, and it didn't cost us anything," Moffatt said.
