Hale'iwa 15-K on Sunday

The Mid-Pacific Road Runners Club's Marathon Readiness Series begins Sunday with the Hale'iwa 15-K, which starts at 7:30 a.m. at Kaiaka Bay State Park.

The series of five events helps prepare athletes for the Dec. 14 Honolulu Marathon.

Packet pickup is at the Running Room on Kapahulu Avenue from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. tomorrow.

Archery

• Tomorrow — Da 6 Pak Bushwackers Traditional Archery Tournament. At Pu'u O Kapolei Archery Range, 9 a.m. Recurves and longbows only. No sights allowed and no string walking. Baseball

Basketball

• Aug. 26 — Deadline for Men's 30-above Basketball League. Saturdays at Lanakila Gym beginning Aug. 30; play starts at noon. Fee: $425 per team. Information: Ray, 582-0327.

Bowling

Lifeguard Programs

• Tomorrow — Junior Lifeguard State Championships. At Ala Moana Beach Park on the 'Ewa end. For students ages 13-17. Events are 1,000-meter beach run, beach flags, run-swim-run (100-meter legs), paddle board relay (eight-person teams), 200-meter swim. Information: Mark Cunningham, program director, 589-2251.



Running

• Aug. 27 — Deadline for the CFC 5K Fun Run/Walk, on Sept. 13. At Kane'ohe Bay, Marine Corps Base, start and finish at Risley Field. Race starts at 8 a.m. No headsets or pets allowed. Fee: $15. Information: 257-1026.



Softball

• Tomorrow — Deadline to register for The SportStan 2nd Annual Softball Classic, on Aug. 28-Sept. 1. At Central O'ahu Regional Park. Pool play with double elimination. Four-game minimum. Fee: $225. Information: Stan Mahelona, 227-7826.
