Sex-assault charges filed

A 48-year-old Mo'ili'ili man was charged Friday with 28 total counts of first- and third-degree sexual assault on a teenage girl.

Walter Y. Funakoshi Jr. of Hausten Street is accused of attacking the 16-year-old girl over a two-year period, police said. Funakoshi is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

Men suspected in robbery

Police arrested two men on suspicion that they assaulted another man last night and robbed him at a bus stop on Kamehameha Highway and 'Ohai Street in Wahiawa.

The victim, 19, told police the two men robbed him of three packages at 10:15 p.m. The suspects, ages 20 and 18, were arrested minutes later on Wilikina Street.

Maui man faces drug charges

A 32-year-old Wailuku man arrested Saturday on Maui by the Hawai'i Federal Fugitive Task Force is facing federal charges for allegedly being in possession of two and four ounces of crystal methamphetamine and a gun. The man is being held on an outstanding criminal warrant.

The suspect has 11 convictions for firearm, drug and theft offenses.

Task force arrests fugitive

The Hawai'i Federal Fugitive Task Force arrested fugitive Alan Alika Vegas, 39, Friday in Pukalani, Maui.

Vegas, wanted on a $90,000 warrant for failing to appear in court on multiple charges that include promotion of dangerous and detrimental drugs, first-degree theft and bail jumping, eluded capture on Thursday and Friday by fleeing in a pickup truck and motorcycle. The Thursday chase resulted in an extensive search of the hills in Makawao.
