THE LEFT LANE
New look in Honolulu

Advertiser Staff and News Services

Style Network's "The Look For Less" — the show that takes high fashion and brings it to people on a budget — has selected four O'ahu women to receive a head-to-toe fashion makeover. The crew will be in town this week to film the makeovers, which are expected to air by October. The women are Morgan Andaluz, 33, of Makiki; Simonette dela Torre, 31, of Honolulu, Liana Mulleitner, 38, of Honolulu; and Donna Therrien, 38, of Kailua.

Spam-sized tribute

Considering that Hawai'i folks eat more Spam than any other state in the union, it's only right that Hormel Foods Corp. is honoring Islanders with a special Spam Hawai'i Collector's Edition label. It's purposely kitschy, with a pair of hula girls peeking out from behind a trio of Spam musubi. On the back, there's a recipe for musubi and some quirky verbiage. The labels will be only on cans of reduced-sodium Spam shipped to Hawai'i, nowhere else. Senior product manager Nick Meyer said Hormel will release other collector-edition Spam cans later.

Everything tattoo

Got ink?

If you have any interest in tattoos — getting one or getting to know what makes a tattoo artist tick — head to the Wave Waikiki on Sunday for the state's first tattoo contest. Judges are people within the tattoo industry.

Categories will include best detail, best color, best over-all composition, etc. The contest is open to everyone 18 and older. Doors open at 8 p.m. There will also be an art sale with artists printing their work on a more painless medium — canvas, not skin — so even the most faint of heart can cherish the pieces for a lifetime.
