Charges in Chinatown fight

Police yesterday charged 33-year-old John Le with second-degree assault in connection with the stabbing of a man Tuesday night in Chinatown. Le’s bail is $11,000.

The victim, 37, was reportedly stabbed in the chest with a broken beer bottle while attempting to break up a fight between Le and another person at 901 Kekaulike St.

Wainaku home gutted by fire

A fire last night gutted a two-story home at 800 Kaiwiki Road in Wainaku on the Big Island. No one was injured in the 9:40 p.m. fire, which was reported under control at 9:58 p.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Losses are estimated at $120,000 to the structure and $25,000 to the contents.
