Crews searched most of yesterday in Windward O'ahu for Phillip O. Milos, 45, whose wallet and backpack were found Monday by hikers on a steep trail above Kahana Valley, said Honolulu Fire Department Capt. Emmit Kane.
Phillip O. Milos was last seen Friday.
The hikers told police they found the backpack at about the 2,000-foot level of the Crouching Lion Trail, which is narrow and recommended for "only for the most experienced hikers," Kane said.
Rescuers called off their search at about 5:30 p.m. yesterday because of unfavorable weather, but Milos' 1989 Dodge was found yesterday morning at the La'ie Shopping Center, Kane said.
There was no evidence of foul play, nor were there any reports of Milos being depressed, said police detective Phil Camero. Milos recently moved to Hawai'i from the Mainland and has no family here, he said.
Milos is 6 feet, 230 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes.
Anyone with information is asked to call Camero at 529-3394, police at 529-3115, or CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
