The Buzz

Go mad at 'It's Alive!'

It's sure to be a monster of a concert this Saturday when "It's Alive!" gets moving. The art rock extravaganza promises to be an eclectic musical showcase featuring bands, fun and games. Presented by improvisational "tardcore" band Contrabanned, the evening also showcases local rockers Postmodern and funky spirits 4 Elements.

The night goes off at 10 p.m. at Ground Level in Fort Street Mall. Cover is $5 for 21 and older or free for those dressed up as a (mad) scientist, genetically modified food product or any other experiment gone awry. Prizes will be given for best costumes.

Juicy's last party at the Maze

Saturday marks the last of the oh-so-awesome Juicy parties at the Maze, with headliner Peanut Butter Wolf, above. He produced Kool Keith's first single as a solo artist, among other compilations. Also appearing at the Juicy closing party will be local spinners IKON, Taharba, K-Smooth, Freeze, Stealth, G-Spot, Sonik, Daniel J, Mike D, Scotty Soul, MC Wild Wes, Killowatz Mongoose, Billy G and Lava.

The Maze will be closing its doors on the top floor of the Waikiki Trade Center at the end of the month. Afterward, Juicy moves to Fridays at Aloha Tower Marketplace's Waterfront Café. Saturday's party runs 10 p.m.-4 a.m., for 18 and older. Cover is $5, $10 and $15. 921-5800.
