Hilo teacher, class win award
The American Association for State and Local History has announced that Nako'olani Warrington and the fourth-grade students of Hilo Union School are the recipients of an AASLH certificate of commendation for the student video project, "Hilo, My Hometown."
The award is the most prestigious recognition given for achievement in the preservation and interpretation of local, state and regional history.
Cancer group honors Realtor
Real estate executive Vi Dolman will be presented with an award by the Friends of the Cancer Research Center of Hawai'i at a Sept. 20 event at the Hawaii State Art Museum, 250 S. Hotel St. Proceeds will benefit the center.
Dolman is being recognized for her dedicated efforts to increase community awareness of cancer and cancer research in the Islands.
Tickets start at $200 per person; table sponsorships are also available.

Women's group names officers
Valerie Southwood is president of the Aikane Chapter of the American Business Women's Association for 2003-04. Other officers are Vickie Kim, vice president; Carol Nakashima, secretary/treasurer; Katherine Wong, membership chair; and Grace Takeuchi, historian.

Keoki's Paradise, a restaurant in Po'ipu, Kaua'i, has presented its Employee of the Month awards for the year's first two quarters to the following:
