• The last in a statewide series of free workshops on ways to diversify the state's tourism industry through activities that offer insight into Hawai'i's traditions and culture will be held 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday at the Hawai'i Convention Center, Room 301B. Topic: County Product

• Economic and defense prospects between the United States and Japan on the 150th anniversary of the start of Japan/U.S. relations will be the focus of a speech Thursday by Hisahiko Okazaki, former Japanese ambassador to Thailand and Saudi Arabia. Okazaki is currently director of the Okazaki Institute in Tokyo.

The luncheon address is sponsored by the Pacific and Asian Affairs Council, East-West Center, The Friends of the East-West Center and the Japan America Society of Hawaii, in cooperation with the Consulate General of Japan in Honolulu. • "WOMEN AND SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS!" is the title of a speech planned Thursday to the monthly luncheon meeting of the PROFESSIONAL WOMEN'S NETWORK. The speaker will be Christina M.
