Women's group honors two

The Woman's Board of Missions for the Pacific Islands recently presented two exceptional members with Never Underestimate the Power of a Christian Woman Awards.

One recipient was Pearl Au Chong of Honolulu. Seventeen years ago she saw the need for a preschool in her community and started one. She has a reputation for being a fair and helpful employee, always willing to listen, always putting her entire being into the task.

She also has sung alto in her church choir for the past 37 years.

The other recipient was Iris Uli'i Boshard of Kailua, Hawai'i. A minister's wife, she has welcomed various house guests and church workers into her home and handled travel arrangements for those attending special church events.

Through her influence her children all became active in humanitarian work in church and the community and now her grandchildren are evidence of this influence as well.
