Watershed projects sought

The Hawai'i Nature Center seeks proposals from community groups for projects that improve water quality and promote protection of the Ala Wai watershed.

The center has set aside $200,000 from a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency grant, and will give a maximum of $50,000 to eligible groups and projects.

Waimanalo well facility gets OK

A Board of Water Supply project to build a facility and access road for Waimanalo Well 3 has the green light to proceed, after a final environmental assessment received a finding of no significant impact to the environment.

The project will construct a building for the well, a 20,000-gallon tank and a chain-link fence around the facility, located 0.6 mile south-southeast of the former Meadow Gold Dairy.
