Advertiser Staff

Sally Lieberman Sheehan, a Honolulu publicist and widow of author and radio personality Ed Sheehan, died Aug. 20 at her home in Kahala. She was 92.

Sally Lieberman Sheehan gave $200,000 to endow a journalism scholarship fund at UH and another $100,000 for nursing scholarships.
Sheehan was an unpaid publicist for former delegate to Congress John Burns, who was later elected Hawai'i governor. She and her husband also worked for Tom Gill in his successful campaign for lieutenant governor and later handled restaurant and travel public relations accounts, including World Airways.

After her husband's death in 1992, Sheehan gave $200,000 to endow a journalism scholarship fund at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa and another $100,000 for nursing scholarships at the school.

She was born in Bay City, Mich., and came to Hawai'i shortly after World War II as a lieutenant commander in the WAVES.

Sheehan is survived by her stepdaughter, Katha Sheehan Stone; a stepgrandson; and a niece and several nephews.

No service was held. Ultimate Cremations handled arrangements. Sheehan will be inurned at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl.
