Flooring group booked for '05

SMG Hawaii said it has secured a booking for the National Wood Flooring Association's 2005 conference and expo at the Hawai'i Convention Center, the first booking resulting from the American Society of Association Executives meeting here earlier this week.

The new event booked is expected to generate nearly $7 million in visitor spending and $579,000 in tax revenue for the state.

Meetings set on tourism study

Researchers for the state's sustainable tourism study project will discuss their progress and get feedback at a series of public meetings next month.

Contractors for the public input and socio-cultural component and economic and environmental modeling component of the study plan to meet on Kaua'i on Sept. 9, in Hilo on Sept. 11, in Kona on Sept. 12, on Moloka'i on Sept. 24, on Lana'i on Sept. 25, on Maui on Sept. 26 and on O'ahu on Sept. 27.
