Tonight's Must-See

"Boomtown," 9 p.m., NBC. The network has been switching "Boomtown" reruns a lot, frustrating viewers. Its announced plan, however, is to rerun this tense episode: In his final hours, a killer on death row gives McNorris (Neal McDonough) an ultimatum: Stop the killer's execution or a kidnapped cop on the outside will die.

Of Note

"Intensity" (1997), 5 p.m., Lifetime. People who find John C. McGinley charming in "Scrubs" are in for a shock here. He plays a nasty killer and kidnapper. Molly Parker is terrific as a young witness who must elude him.

Football, 7 p.m., ABC. More pre-season NFL football. This time the San Francisco 49ers take on the San Diego Chargers on the latter's home turf.

"The Bernie Mac Show," 7 p.m., Fox. In this rerun, Jordan wants a paintball gun.

"Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," 8 p.m., NBC. A corporate mogul has been killed and his son seems to be guilty. What perplexes cops, in this rerun, is whether the victim's wife — an actress, played by Sherilyn Fenn — was involved.
