The undergraduate international business program at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa was ranked 12th in the nation this year in the latest U.S. News & World Report. It was the first time the program made the prestigious listing, tying with the University of Wisconsin in the magazine's annual ranking of "America's Best Colleges."
The high ranking was attributed to the Asia-focused curriculum, continuing selection as a federally financed Center for International Business Education and Research, its role as secretariat for the Academy for International Business, and faculty research in international business.
The curriculum includes a Japan- and China-focused MBA program, and the new Vietnam Executive MBA program added in 2001. Twenty-six students in Hanoi recently graduated from the Vietnam program.
Earlier this year the UH graduate program in international business was ranked 21st in the magazine's report on the best graduate schools, joining schools such as Harvard, Stanford and MIT in the top 25.
At the same time, Hawai'i Pacific University was listed in the second tier of western regional universities in the universities-master's category, scoring among the top 15 schools in the west for having one of the most diverse American student populations and ranking second in this region for having the most international students.
Schools listed in this category offer a full range of undergraduate programs and provide graduate education at the master's level. HPU was measured against more than 570 peer institutions.
