Startled horse dies on H-1
A horse died after it jumped out of its trailer on H-1 Freeway yesterday, police said.
Police said the horse was startled by a passing motorcycle and jumped out of the trailer about 11:26 a.m. while on the westbound freeway by Aiea Heights. No other vehicles were involved.
The horse, named Sunny, was initially straddling two lanes of traffic but officers arriving at the scene managed to move it to the side, according to police reports. Officers called for a tow truck to lift the horse, but it died before the truck got there.
