Foodland To Go has not been a going concern, so it's got to go.
Foodland dispatched e-mails to subscribers of the online shopping service to tell them that today is the final day of operation.
The service, the only one of its kind in Hawai'i, began nearly three years ago. Most recently, it was offered only at the Beretania and Ewa Town Center stores.
For a $4.95 added fee, customers could place an online order for groceries for pickup three hours later. A Foodland spokesman said about 1,000 shoppers were subscribers.
In the e-mail Jenai Wall, Foodland Super Market chief executive officer, said the service had fans, but "Foodland To Go has not maintained a sufficient volume of business to justify the resources devoted to the service."
