Bethany chats with TV host

Advertiser Staff

Hawai'i surfer Bethany Hamilton, the Kaua'i teen who lost her arm in a shark attack, talked to Ellen DeGeneres yesterday. Bethany's first talk-show appearance will air at 3 p.m. today on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show," broadcast on KITV in Honolulu.

Bethany Hamilton, left, will appear on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" today.
Watching from the audience were her family and Holt Blanchard, her best friend's father, who was there when the attack happened. Blanchard's application of a tourniquet saved the 13-year-old's life.

During the show, which is filmed in Los Angeles, DeGeneres told Bethany, "Your attitude is amazing." Bethany replied, "I don't want to sit around moping and worrying about the past. I just want to look forward and have a good life."
