Car seat, bed are on top of parents' list

"J.E." and her husband have been receiving rent and food assistance while they go through a rough time.
"I don't like to ask for things," she said. "My husband and I have a healthy relationship, and we're trying to survive. I'd rather be helping others, like the homeless, if I could."
J.E.'s husband took a leave two months ago from his job to care for the couple's daughter, who'll be 3 in February. After three years of being sober, J.E. briefly slipped back into drug use. She's in a drug-rehabilitation program but also suffers from a bi-polar disorder.
"I'm doing better," J.E. said. Realizing that she was hurting her daughter made her seek treatment for her drug use two months ago.
The family would like a car seat for their daughter to replace the one they have, which has worn out straps and upholstery.
J.E., her husband and daughter share a queen-size bed. They could use another bed for their growing daughter.
Our anonymous Santa has generously offered once again this year to match the first $25 of each donation to the Christmas Fund.

Monetary donations may be dropped off at any First Hawaiian Bank branch.
