Two from Hawai'i come to defense of San Diego football

San Diego senior defensive back Gavin Ng (Mililani '00 of Mililani) and senior defensive tackle Josh Noga (Farrington '00 of Kalihi) were selected to the All-Pioneer Football League first team.

Ng recorded 28 solo and 20 assisted tackles with three interceptions.

Noga had 12 solo and 17 assisted tackles, including seven tackles for loss and three sacks.

Ng also was selected to the second team as a return specialist.

Other Hawai'i players on the San Diego roster are sophomore outside linebacker/strong safety Kawika Fiddler (Punahou '02 of Kailua), freshman outside linebacker/strong safety Aaron Kahaloa (Kamehameha '03 of Kapolei), junior wide receiver Davin Nakasato (Saint Louis '01 of Honolulu), freshman fullback Brenden Nakata (Kamehameha '01 of Honolulu) and sophomore offensive lineman Ka'ea Simeona (Kamehameha of Honolulu).

MORE FOOTBALL

• Arizona junior center Keoki Fraser (Kailua '00 of Kailua) and senior linebacker Joe Siofele (Saint Louis '99 of Waipahu) earned Pacific-10 Conference honorable mention.

• Palomar (Calif.) Community College freshman wide receiver Caleb Spencer (Kamehameha '03 of Kane'ohe) had eight catches for 178 yards and touchdowns of 43 and 28 yards in a 24-14 loss to College of the Canyons (Calif.) in the Western State Conference Bowl on Nov. 22.

Freshman defensive tackle Clement Ata Pono Kahuku (Kamehameha of Honolulu) and freshman defensive end Soli Lefiti (Castle '03 of Kane'ohe) also play for Palomar.

Freshman linebacker Falaniko Noga (Farrington '02) plays for College of the Canyons.

• Occidental (Calif.) sophomore linebacker Derek Turbin (Punahou '02 of Honolulu) had 10 solo tackles and five assisted tackles in a 33-10 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (Calif.) on Nov. 22.

Sophomore David Marsh (Punahou '02 of Honolulu) had two solo tackles and three assists, and sophomore slotback Ric Fukushima (Moanalua '02 of Waipahu) had two catches for 41 yards.

CMS sophomore running back Teo Bennett (Iolani '02 of Kapolei) rushed for 90 yards on 17 carries, and had one catch for 7 yards, and freshman wide receiver Tonee Suetsugu (Iolani '03 of Honolulu) had three catches for 36 yards.

Senior offensive lineman Clayton Schroers (Iolani '00 of Honolulu) and junior running back D.A Weick (Punahou of Honolulu) also play for CMS.



Wrestling

• Iowa State sophomore Grant Nakamura (Baldwin '01 of Wailuku) went 3-0 in the 125-pound division in the University of Tenn.-Chattanooga Quad meet Saturday. He beat Matt Pitts of UTC, 6-2; Joe Thompson of Virginia Tech by pinfall in 2 minutes, 14 seconds, and Chonci Houston of Clarion by pinfall in 3:54. Nakamura is No. 8 in the nation at 125.



Women's Volleyball

• Palomar CC sophomore libero Jennifer Ornellas (Lana'i '02) was named to the Pacific Coast Conference second team.
