Ordway named HSWGA president

Kathy Ordway will be president of the Hawai'i State Women's Golf Association in 2004.

Ordway's officers are Grace Wilson (vice-president), Bev Kim (recording secretary), Marilyn Chinen (corresponding secretary) and Sharon Kong (treasurer).

The HSWGA is looking for new clubs to join. A club can be all female or mixed. Dues start at $20. Membership applications can be downloaded from hswga.org or call 589-2046 for information.

The HSWGA is sponsoring a tournament with a stableford format Jan. 26 at Olomana. It is limited to the first 60 members who apply.

The HSWGA is planning to sponsor Beginning Golfer's Workshops for Women next year. Two will be on O'ahu, and one each on Maui, Kaua'i and the Big Island.

SHORT PUTTS: Brandan Kop, Paul Kimura, Joe Phengsavath and Jonathan Ota are in the field at the 2003 Turtle Bay Amateur tournament, tomorrow and Saturday at the Fazio and Palmer courses. Sisters Christine and Kimberly Kim are also among the 120 who will play in the revival of the Kuilima Amateur. ... The Aloha Section PGA's Member-Only qualifying for the 2004 Sony Open in Hawai'i is Monday at Waialae Country Club. A field of 51 pros will tee off for two spots. A third spot has been granted to Aloha Section Player of the Year, Kevin Hayashi. A fourth and final spot will be awarded to the low score among the 12 amateurs who qualified for this year's Governor's Cup.
