Kamehameha Schools, Hawai'i's largest private landowner, said yesterday it has selected Colliers Monroe Friedlander Inc. as the exclusive lease agent for the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center.

Colliers will be looking for "high performing dining, entertainment and retail tenants that ... appeal to visitors and kama'aina," said Susan Todani, acting director of development and planning at Kamehameha Schools.

The trust also noted that The Cheesecake Factory, a California casual-dining chain, will open its first Hawai'i restaurant at the Royal Hawaiian Wednesday.

Lumber group seeks members

A new lumber industry group, the Hawaii Lumber Products Association, is seeking corporate members.

"The association's goal is to educate the public on lumber as the preferred building material based on over a 100-year track record of wood and its increasing long-term performance in Hawai'i's climate and construction industry," said HLPA President Hap Person.
