All Christmas on KSSK radio

Advertiser Staff

It's sounding a lot like Christmas on KSSK AM/FM — because the No. 1 radio station has switched to an all-holiday-song format.

The station, normally featuring an adult contemporary playlist, converted to all-Christmas during the Thanksgiving weekend. So from now to Christmas Day, you'll hear "Silent Night," "Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer," "Silver Bells" and "I'll Be Home for Christmas," among other carols.

Program director Paul Wilson said holiday playlists have "really caught on with listeners since the terrorism events of 2001. Listeners are looking for comforting songs ... while they work and shop."

The station traditionally plays Christmas music one day in June — labeling it Leon Day (noel backward) — for those who may not be around on Christmas.
