2 injured as car hits them

A man and a woman were injured, one critically, when they were struck by a car while crossing North School Street in Kalihi last night.

The couple, in their 50s or 60s, was crossing the four-lane School Street at Amelia Street when they were hit by a blue Toyota station wagon at about 9:30 p.m.

The impact threw the pedestrians about 15 feet and smashed the car's windshield.

Police said one of the victims was in critical condition and the other was in serious condition. The male driver was not injured.
