BYU-Hawai'i rallies past Hawai'i Pacific

Jake Chrisman scored 24 points and Brigham Young-Hawai'i rallied from a halftime deficit to defeat Hawai'i Pacific, 86-76, in a non-conference basketball game at Cannon Activities Center in La'ie last night.

The Sea Warriors (0-7) led by as many as 14 points, and took a 48-43 lead at halftime. But BYUH scored the first six points of the second half to take its first lead of the game since Austin Smylie's basket to open the game.

The Sea Warriors shot just 33 percent in the second half, hitting 9 of 27 field-goal attempts. BYUH shot 52 percent in both halves, finishing 30 for 58 in field-goal attempts.

Michael Stowell added 22 points and Shawn Opunui had 18 points and five steals for BYUH (5-2). Smylie had a game-high 10 rebounds.

Aaron Abrams scored a game-high 28 points, 17 in the first half, for Hawai'i Pacific. Marvin Noble added 23 points and Dante Sykes 16. Albert Tecul had a team-high nine rebounds and seven assists.
