PTA cash taken; woman booked

A 47-year-old woman was arrested Friday on suspicion of stealing money from a parent-teacher organization of a school in Pearl City. The woman was booked on suspicion of second-degree theft and released.

She is accused of stealing more than $2,800 from the organization from December 2002 to March 2003, police said.

Fishing boat drops off body

The body of a 51-year-old crewman who died at sea Nov. 30 aboard a Japanese fishing vessel was turned over last night to the medical examiner’s office.

A spokesman for Honolulu Agency said the fishing vessel Daikichi Maru No. 2 stopped at Honolulu Harbor to drop off the body of the crewman, who may have suffered a heart attack.

An autopsy will be done.

This case is unrelated to the death of 32-year-old Mohamad Taufik, a crewman from the fishing vessel Tokuju No. 7 who died at sea Nov. 28 and was brought to Honolulu last week.
