Advertiser Staff

Four people were killed and three injured in a two-car crash on Farrington Highway in Makaha tonight, officials said. A witness said two pedestrians were struck and one was killed.

The injured people were in critical condition. They were flown by Army medevac helicopter to The Queen's Medical Center.

The crash happened about 7 p.m. near the Makaha Surfside apartments, near Wai'anae High School. Initial reports said it may have been a head-on collision.

A witness said two cars were racing toward Makua Cave when one of the cars spun out of control. It hit two pedestrians crossing Farrington Highway and collided with a Wai'anae-bound Ford Explorer. The witness said one of the pedestrians, a young woman, was killed.
