Man charged in fatal stabbing

Advertiser Staff

Police yesterday charged a 39-year-old man with second-degree murder in the stabbing death of a woman Sunday in Nanakuli.

John Kalani Lanoza was arraigned in District Court today and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

The victim, identified in a police report filed at District Court as "Stella," was stabbed once in the neck. She died at Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center at 7:17 a.m.

According to the police report, a witness saw the woman staggering toward the parking lot from the beach, covered with blood and calling for help, stating she had been stabbed by "John."

Police found Lanoza in the woman’s tent covered with blood and also recovered a knife, the report said.
