Advertiser Staff

Police have charged a 39-year-old man with second-degree murder in the stabbing of a woman Sunday in Nanakuli.

John Kalani Lanoza was arraigned in District Court yesterday and is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail.

A police report filed in court identified the woman only as Stella. Stabbed once in the neck, she died at Wai'anae Coast Comprehensive Health Center at 7:17 a.m.

According to the police report, a witness saw her staggering toward the parking lot from the beach, covered with blood and calling for help. She said she was stabbed by someone she referred to only as John.

Police found Lanoza in the woman's tent covered with blood and also recovered a knife, the report said.
