Punahou's 1961 squad also finished undefeated

 •  Final fling for four Buffanblu

Advertiser Staff Writer

Add another to the list of unbeaten prep football teams.

The 1961 Punahou School team finished 12-0 overall. The Buffanblu won all three preseason games, the Interscholastic League of Honolulu title with an 8-0 record, and then proved their dominance was no fluke by trouncing Roosevelt, 53-26, in the Thanksgiving Day game at Honolulu Stadium.

The team was inadvertently not listed with the other unbeaten teams in Tuesday's paper.

Punahou was coached by David Eldredge. Players who made The Advertiser's ILH all-star team included: ends Barry Klein and Walter Macfarlane, guard Walt Harrington, quarterback Buzzy Joao and halfback Wayne Williams, who was named the Back of the Year.
