Drive-through nativity scenes

Central Union Church will present its annual "Gift of Bethlehem" Christmas drive-through, 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday on the church lawn, 1660 S. Beretania St.

The free event features living scenes surrounding the birth of Christ and includes strolling shepherds, angels, kings, sheep, donkey and the holy family. Entrance will be from South Beretania.

Also, baritone Leon Williams, in town for a production of "Othello" with Hawaii Opera Theatre, will be featured at the 8:15 a.m. and 9:45 a.m. services tomorrow.

Williams graduated as "most outstanding member" from the Boys Choir of Harlem, and originated the role of Coalhouse Walker Jr. in the original Broadway production of "Ragtime."

Kids to tell nativity story

This Christmas Eve, St. Andrew's Cathedral is invitingÊchildren ages 4 to 10Êto tell the nativity story by being part of the cathedral's Christmas pageant at its 5 p.m. Mass.

There will be no lines to memorize or rehearsals. The pageant consists of the story read from the Bible, favorite Christmas hymns and a growing tableau of Mary and Joseph, baby Jesus, angels, shepherds and sheep, and magi.

Children will be invited at the door to don a costume and join the pageant. Children and their parents are asked to show up at about 4:45 p.m. at the cathedral on Christmas Eve.

Annual keiki-led service tomorrow

Tomorrow at 4:30 p.m. will be the annual keiki-led Christmas service at Calvary by the Sea Lutheran Church.

It begins with a harp concert by Ruth Freedman at 4 p.m., followed by the "From Our Herd To Your Herd" cowboy Christmas presentation. There will also be children from Movement Center, instrumental and vocal solos and carol singing.

On Dec. 21, both 7:30 and 10 a.m. services will include the drama "An Unexpected Christmas" with Calvary Choir performing the music.
