Grand jury indicts driver in 2001 crash that killed three

Advertiser Staff

A driver who survived a fatal collision that killed three of his Mililani High School friends in April 2001 on Kaukonahua Road near Wahiawa has been indicted on three counts of negligent homicide.

Brian Dade, 20, was also charged with two counts of negligently causing injuries to two people who were in a car that slammed into the one that Dade was driving.

At the time of the incident, police said Dade was driving his grandmother's 1999 Saturn when it crossed the center line on Kauko-nahua Road, smashed a guardrail and was hit by an oncoming 1994 Saturn carrying three members of a Mililani family, all of whom were injured.

Killed in the accident were Andrew Delos Reyes and Jeremy Tolentino, both 18, and Anthony Alexander, who was 17. Police reported finding alcohol containers inside and outside the car that was carrying the youths who were killed and said they believed the car was speeding.

Dade could not be reached yesterday to comment on the indictment, which was returned by an O'ahu grand jury on Thursday.
