Advertiser Staff

University of Hawai'i football player Travis LaBoy yesterday was named to the College Football News All-America third team.

The publication's all-star teams are sanctioned by the NCAA.

LaBoy, a senior defensive end from San Rafael, Calif., led the Western Athletic Conference with 13 sacks this season.

On Monday, LaBoy was named WAC Defensive Player of the Year.

"It's a great honor," said Vantz Singletary, who coaches the UH defensive linemen. "Travis has worked hard, and it's great for him to get recognition. But this isn't just for him. Travis represents the entire defensive line."

The Warriors will play Houston in the Sheraton Hawai'i Bowl on Christmas Day at Aloha Stadium.
