JOSEPH A. FERRARIO, bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Honolulu from 1982 to 1993, died Friday evening at St. Francis Medical Center. He was 77. "I have lost a very dear friend," Bishop Francis X. DiLorenzo said of his predecessor's death. See story.

MARIO HERNANDEZ ANZURES, 40, of Kula, Maui, died Dec. 1, 2003. Born in Glendale, Calif. An accountant for a computer software company. Survived by wife, Mya Lynne; daughters, Isabella and Helana; sister, Emilie; brothers, Julian, Arthur, Richard, Alfred, Robert and George. FILIMINO ASUNCION, 81, of Santa Ana, Calif., formerly of Kilauea, Kaua'i, died Nov. 19, 2003. Born on Kaua'i. A U.S. Army veteran who served in World War II. Survived by brothers, Norman Joe, Alfredo Martin and Vernon Cris; sisters, Loretta Abalos and Dee Stollar. Service held in Santa Ana.

FELICITAS BARBER BUENAVISTA, 74, of Honolulu, died Dec. 4, 2003. Born in Ducam, Dolores, Abra, Philippines. Retired as an equipment assembler for International In-Flight Catering Co. Ltd. A longtime foreign service officer who served in Southeast Asia and Latin America with the Agency for International Development who helped write and edited the book "Prelude to Tragedy."
